The summertime weather is in full swing in Sacramento so I put together a mix to beat the heat. Mostly it is a change to check out 8tracks and I’m still looking for the best way to embed the player, but listen and enjoy. ** The embed only works on desktop computers, but you can download the 8tracks app and search for SRShearer there.

Levi’s went out and commissioned a dozen different musical artists for the ‘Levi’s Pioneer Sessions’ and had them cover a classic song that had inspired the artist. Beginning in May of 2010, two new songs were made available per week as free downloads, over the course of six weeks along with videos of interviews with the artist about re-crafting the song they chose. I’m a big fan of The Shins, so I naturally loved James Mercer’s cover of ‘Goodbye Girl’, originally by ‘Squeeze’. This is certainly not breaking news, but definitely is worth checking out.
