Seven years, four months, and a hundred thousand miles.
In 2003, we bought my ‘03 Ford Focus three-door hatchback. I learned to drive a manual transmission in that car and since then, I’ve driven the entire length of the west coast. Trips to the bay area and tires worn from having fun in wet parking lots were common occurrences, but two of my fondest memories are driving to the Mexico border with my friend Katie and having border patrol give us stern looks from his Jeep between the fences, and my road trip with Jon to visit the other Jon in Seattle. We drove all night from Sacramento to Seattle, then went up to Vancouver, Canada the day after.
In the 380 weeks since getting that car it’s been part of a thousand memories. Here’s to a thousand more. Happy 100,000th birthday DCY.
