I heart Old York

Manhattan isn’t somewhere you would expect to find an entire building to be abandoned, especially a large one in the middle of downtown. 5 Beekman St has a secret, and ‘Scout’ from ScoutingNY.com found out what it is. I love the way he tell stories with his photography, so be sure to check out some of his past adventures. He originally posted this story early this year but was forced to take down the photos at the request of the property owners. Glad to see it back up.

Mare Island

ArrowI went to Mare Island last week and did some urban exploring with Jesse to escape the 106° Sacramento heat. We also ended up going around the north peninsula and looked around at some of the old batteries that are long-since shut down and locked up tight.

On Mare Island we were able to actually get inside an old lab and what we believe to have been an explosives testing & development facility, including an old lab. There were some pressurized testing rooms inside a warehouse as well as some old equipment in the building and it was fascinating to have a look around.

Of course, I did a bit of photography while we were exploring the building and posted the pictures on my Flickr, so be sure to check them out.
